Quick answer: Fire rated decorative wall panels should be selected according to the project location, application area, required test standard, material type and available documents. Buyers should not rely only on words such as fireproof or flame retardant. For commercial interiors, ask which rating applies and whether documents are available for the exact product.

Why Fire Rating Comes Up in Commercial Projects
Residential buyers often focus on appearance, waterproof performance and cleaning. Commercial buyers have another layer of concern: project approval. Hotels, apartments, offices, retail stores and public interiors may require fire-related documents before a material can be used.
For importers and contractors, this question should be asked early. If the required document is not available for the chosen material, changing products after design approval can delay the whole project.
Fireproof, Flame Retardant and Fire Rated Are Not the Same
In building material marketing, the word fireproof is often used too casually. Buyers should be careful. A material may be described as flame retardant, but that does not automatically mean it meets the rating required by your local project.
A fire rating is connected to a test method and test result. For example, in some markets, buyers may see references to Class A or ASTM E84 for surface burning characteristics. Other markets use different systems. The important point is not the label alone, but whether the document matches your project requirement.
Yifang’s product knowledge includes B1-level fire-retardant positioning for certain wall panel products. For commercial use, buyers should request available documents and confirm whether they fit the application and local rules.
Questions Buyers Should Ask Before Ordering
Use this checklist before confirming decorative wall panels for a commercial interior:
- What fire rating is available for this exact material?
- Which test standard does the document follow?
- Does the report apply to this panel core, surface finish and thickness?
- Is the panel intended for wall use, ceiling use or both?
- Is the application area a hotel room, corridor, lobby, office or retail space?
- Are trims and accessories part of the same material system?
- Can documents be reviewed before deposit?
- Does the project also require low-VOC, moisture resistance or impact resistance?
Material Differences Matter
PVC wall panels, WPC wall panels, SPC panels, carbon crystal panels, PU stone panels and fluted decorative panels may have different fire performance depending on formula, core material, surface layer and backing. Buyers should not assume one rating applies to every product in a catalog.
Surface finish can also matter. A wood grain film, marble film, acoustic felt backing or different decorative layer may change the product structure. For high-risk projects, ask the supplier to connect the document to the exact specification you plan to order.
Fire Rating Is Only One Part of Suitability
A fire-related document does not make a panel automatically suitable for every commercial project. Buyers should also consider scratch resistance, moisture exposure, cleaning method, impact risk, installation speed, replacement needs and batch finish consistency.
For hotel rooms, repeated panels need consistent color. For corridors, impact resistance and cleaning may be important. For offices, fluted or acoustic-style panels may be selected for appearance and comfort. For retail stores, surface durability and fast installation can be more important than a dramatic texture.
How to Build a Better RFQ
A strong RFQ should include project country, application area, required fire rating, panel material, finish preference, quantity, wall dimensions, trim requirements, required documents and delivery schedule.
If you simply ask, “Do you have fireproof wall panels?” the answer may be too general. A better question is: “For this hotel corridor project in this country, can this WPC or PVC wall panel provide the required fire-related document?” That gives the supplier enough context to respond responsibly.
How Yifang Supports Project Buyers
Yifang supplies PVC, WPC, SPC, PU stone, fluted and decorative wall panel systems for commercial interiors. For projects with fire-related requirements, buyers should share the application area and document needs before choosing the final material.
Yifang can help review suitable product options, available documents, surface finishes, trims and packing for commercial projects. If a requirement is strict, it should be checked before sample approval and bulk production.
External Reference
For buyers researching fire testing language, the concept of surface burning behavior is commonly discussed in relation to standards such as ASTM E84. Always confirm the exact requirement with your project authority or local code consultant.
FAQ
Are all decorative wall panels fire rated?
No. Fire performance depends on material, core, surface layer, thickness and test documents.
Is B1 the same as Class A?
Not necessarily. Different markets use different systems. Buyers should confirm which standard the project requires.
Should I ask for documents before samples?
For commercial projects, yes. Samples show finish, while documents help confirm whether the product can move forward in project review.
Final Buying Note
Send your project country, application area, required rating, preferred material and finish. Yifang can help check suitable decorative wall panel options and available project documents before quotation.
